About Bytingidea

Hi, I’m James Mitchell. I’m a QA engineer and maker based in Berlin, and Bytingidea is where I share my work, the tools I build, Raspberry Pi projects, and reflections on tech and professional life.

I’ve spent over 20 years in software quality assurance, from mobile games to B2C web products. I’ve led QA teams, run release processes, and worked on automation. I care about shipping reliable products and good user experiences, and I’m especially interested in how quality, testing, and automation fit into fast-moving teams.

Outside of work, I’m a Raspberry Pi enthusiast. I organize Raspberry Jam Berlin, where makers share projects and ideas, and I take part in Maker faires and hackathons when I can. My own projects often combine hardware and software like CamUI, a web interface for the Raspberry Pi camera that lets you capture images, adjust settings in real time, and stream video from your browser. I build with Flask, Python, JavaScript, and Bootstrap, and I keep exploring new tools and workflows.

This blog is a space for tech and creativity: what I’m making, what I’m learning, and how I think about quality and craft. If that sounds interesting, I’d be glad to have you along.
